USAF issued me a Source hydration pack during training and at first I thought it was the result of some kind of shady DoD contract or something since I’d never heard of Source. After a few years of hard use in various climates, I came to appreciate the quality. Maintenance was minimal, taste was excellence, and durability was far beyond other similar products. The parts that finally broke were the string attached to filling cap (which is corrected by this new design), and the bite valve (also different on this one). To be fair, both wore out from overuse (sometimes mild abuse).
Survived a GoRuck Challenge

For those not familiar w/ a GoRuck, it’s a looong physical/mental challenge put on by Special Ops members. Our particular team went through 12 grueling hours and about 20 miles of PT, running, lifting and getting wet. This Source hydration passed the test w/ flying colors. Rolling around on concrete, the hard black plastic protecting the bite valve held its own. Other people’s bite valves were cracking and started to leak after rolling on the concrete. Mine stayed in tact the entire 12 hours and didn’t get dirty. As far as the bladder itself, incredible. Our challenge required us to haul 6 bricks in our rucks for the duration of the challenge. Basically, the hydration bladder was in a ruck w/ bricks while I rolled around on it doing flutter kicks, ran, jumped, slung my ruck around, threw it on the ground and everything in between. The bladder didn’t leak a single drop. If this hydration system handled a GoRuck, it’ll handle whatever you’re going to put it through.
Beats Camelbak every day of the week

I used Camelbaks for years in the military and had mixed results – some worked fine, alot of them leaked, and accessibility was always a problem. I started using Source bladders my last year in and was impressed by their quality – much easier to clean, and the antimicrobial interiors were clearly superior to the Camelbak ones. So when I got out of the military and started doing civilian outdoors activities it was a no brainer as to what I would use for hydration.
Like the reservoir but not the valve

I have tried many different hydration reservoirs over the past years and Source are simply the most reliable in terms of leak-proof and easy to clean. However, the new style valve is just as bad as the previous one and I will be replacing it soon. It is huge and it leaked from day 1. Since I use this while bicycle commuting, any leakage drips from my shoulder right onto my right leg. Pretty annoying.
best buy for the money

I purchased 2 for my son and myself. We used it for backpacking with Boy Scouts in New Mexico (12 days). Easy to use and clean. The big mouth makes it easy to fill with ice cubes (when you have them at home) and makes for easy cleaning and drying. The detachable hose made it super easy to fill the bladder without weaving the hose in and out of where it was attached to my backpack. Other scouts had bladders but had to fish the hose in and out to fill (inconvenient). The mouthpiece did not leak and worked perfectly (the mouthpiece cover was nice too – kept dirt off of it whenever I lay down my backpack). I would buy it again and recommend it to others.

I was so conflicted on which water pack to buy because all of them had extreme good reviews but also bad ones. I’m glad I stuck to buying this one because I had no issues what so ever. It doesn’t leak, or break. it is also extremely easy to clean and use. I use it so snowboarding and fell hard on it a coupe times and there was no issues.

I have looked at a lot of different Bladders and this one seems to work best for me. The water tastes clean with no plastic taste. Its easy to clean. Very easy to drink from the tube. I purchased the 2 liter for my Osprey day pack. I am very happy with my purchase.
Great product for athletes

This bladder is easy to clean and easy to use. It went on a week-long backpacking trip and was invaluable for its light weight, ease of filling, and ease of cleaning. It even served as an effective “shower.” It now gets used as often as a steel water bottle for all athletics, including day trips biking and hiking. No leaks & large volume. It gets stored with a clean face towel stuffed inside – dry and fresh for the next adventure.
Bought 3 Hydration Bladder at the same time and THIS ONE WORKS THE BEST.

Great product, I purchased this Source Outdoor Widepac along with two other hydration bladder at the same time (BONL Bladder & Aquatic Bladder).
