As with two other Osprey packs I own, the Exos 34 is well designed and carefully manufactured. Its a conventional design scaled down, but it’s still sturdy and tough enough to handle the rigors of extended hikes. The straps have no padding and the buckles are tiny. It weighs 2 lbs 2 oz. This pack is suited for long distance hikers looking to lighten their load during the course of a thru hike when the season no longer requires full winter gear and more food. It is rated for 25 lbs., which is accurate, and ideally sized for 4 day intervals. If tent and sleeping pad are strapped to the outside, this pack will carry 5 days of food, stove, down sleeping bag, one set of extra clothes, rain jacket, down jacket, pack cover, camp shoes, water filter, water bottle, 2 quarts of water in a bladder, emergency kit, and miscellaneous items. With this rig you’re at about 28 to 30 pounds total.

Amazing Lightweight Pack!

The Exos 34 is the smallest member of Osprey’s Exos lightweight pack series. I purchased this pack to use on an 11-day hike around Mont Blanc, where we would be spending some nights in mountain refuges. So I would not be needing to carry full overnight gear, but a few more items than I would need for just day hiking.

Ultralight weight hiking pack

The Exos pack is awesome. It has just enough padding on the hip belt to create comfort – provided you are an ultralight weight hiker. The straps are minimal as are the buckles – exactly what you would expect from an ultralight weight product. But – they are sturdy. I’m no easy on equipment and I haven’t been “easy” on this pack but it has held up well. Plus – you won’t find one lighter. Easy access to everything. Perfect pockets for that stuff you just have to stash. It’s a very nice pack. I use the 34 as a daypack – particularly for extremely cold winer outings. I have all three sizes of this pack.

Still have this pack several years later and Im just as happy with it as I was the day I bought it. Worked so well backpacking in Central America. And I occasionally do some grocery shopping with it when I bike to the store. I love the mesh back, keeps me from getting to sweaty.

Very Comfortable Pack!

I purchsed this pack mostly for traveling. I have put a few miles on it hustling through some international airports and i have t say it is very comfortable! I wrapped the waist straps around the back because i typically prefer not to use them. The air vent system where it rides on your back is awesome! It allows airflows and is much cooler and more comfortable than other packs i have used.

Great overnight pack

The suspension on this pack is great! You can’t ask much more from a pack for the weight. If you follow the Ultralight mantra, this might be a bit heavy, but I love it. I’ve had a few packs with no suspension to speak of, and they are not even remotely comfortable. This pack was perfect for our overnight hike of Half Dome in Yosemite. We packed all our gear in, setup camp, and completed the hike the next morning with only water and snacks. The side straps allowed me to cinch it down tight and not worry about it flopping around while on the cables.

fantastic pack

This bag has been with me across two continents, in freezing mountain conditions and in the fiery desert. It is ultralight, holds a good amount of gear, and is very functional. The straps and pockets are well-designed. The trampoline back is a highly, highly appreciated feature, as it keeps air flowing between the bag and your back. The weight is just phenomenally light.

Osprey must have read my mind

The design of this pack is really well thought out. It is light but has a large carrying capacity. It is large enough for a weekend backpacking trip. I really like the side openings of the mesh on each side that makes it easy to reach the water bottles. There is also a special pouch for carrying a water bladder. The top pocket is great for storing odds and ends. The zippered pouches on the waist belt hold a small camera and snacks. A+ Osprey!

Fantastic backpack. Lightweight, comfortable, and easy to adjust. I have been using this backpack on my everyday commute, when hiking, and as my airplane carry on. Would highly recommend. Great Osprey quality.
