I don’t know what the 3 star guy is talking about. It just makes me laugh when people fault a product for things that were never said to be. The description and pictures are accurate. If you can read and see you can tell this bag doesn’t have pockets all over other than the mesh pockets. But with mesh pockets on the bag two small mesh pockets on belt, the rear pouch/day-pack which is removable and can be used as a summiting bag with its own shoulder straps and the top pouch with easy access zipper, I don’t know how much more easy access you need to your gear. And if that isn’t enough the large main compartment is easily accessible with zipper access to the entire main compartment on front of pack. No the bag did not come with a rain cover but neither do many top quality brands that cost much more. You can get a rain cover on Amazon that fits for about $5.

Im 6-2 185 pounds, this pack was very comfortable. The day pack is big enough to put a 3 liter water bag, one MRE, and my msr filter. I was able to stuff 3 3 liter bags in it full and carry my filter if you fill them in the pouch and use the mess pocket. My pack did start squeaking after my Mt. Shasta climb and I wish it did have the zipper pouches on the belt verse mess. I am going to experiment with adding a bigger day pack in place of the smaller pack because it has not place to tie crampons and an ice axe on. I got this one on sale for $139 on here which for the price is very solid.

Bought this pack for spring shed hunting trips and archery season. I have only put a few miles on it working on getting myself back in shape around the place in mild to medium terrain. I am impressed very, comfortable and spacious. I have it loaded with two man tent, 0 Deg. bag, jet boil, beauty rest pad, three dried meals, two fuel canisters, alarm clock, pack lantern, water purifier, camp pillow and first aid supply all in main compartment with room to spare. All pockets are empty so I will have plenty of room for all my gear plus extra food for my wife. The summit pack will fit a fair lunch, my frog tog jacket, quarter bag, roll of rope and spare knife perfect for hunting season. Every thing seems to be good quality and durable + the U shaped opening to main compartment makes loading and unloading great.

I have a 22 year old mountainsmith pack and decided to retire it and get another. This one is extremely comfortable. Carried 75 lbs of gear over 3 days in it.
