Have tried many brands and styles of headlamps, and this is one of the best. Great design, unlike some headlamps with poorly fitting headbands and hard-to-reach switches and zoom adjusters. The 3.7 volt lithium batteries recharge quickly and stay charged for many days, unlike some high leak rate rechargeables. Not sure how these low cost, high capacity lithium batteries are made, or how many recharge cycles they can handle, but they appear to be game-changers in terms of small, battery-operated devices. The light itself is blindingly bright — if you look at your friends in the dark, they may become unfriendly. Used it for night skiing recently and inadvertently offended a few; others can certainly see you coming. Like all CREE lights I’ve used to date (with any type of battery power source), it begins to dim substantially within 20-30 minutes of continued use but, after leaving off for several minutes, gets bright again. It seems that the CREE technology draws more current than batteries can deliver in the short-term, but the batteries rebound quickly. Or else the CREE lightsource itself dims and recovers. Curious if others have noticed this with CREE lights and if anyone knows why this happens. In any case, this is a great light for the price. Superior design and functionality relative to many, more expensive headlamps.
A Superior Rechargable Headlamp!

I bought this headlamp for work and is strapped to the top of my hardhat that I wear daily. The headlamp is a little big, but there is no comparison between the brightness of this headlamp and any other headlamp I have seen on construction sites to date. It doesn’t have 20h* working time if you use the brightest setting, more like 6 hours. The construction is very durable, it looks built to last, and for the cost comparison between the Canwelum and other rechargeable headlamps on the market, I cant imagine why anyone would buy anything else. These are great headlamps! “I recommend them to everyone.”

So, I know there are several headlamps available that look just like this one and cost considerably less. The difference is quality control. Harbor Freight and Jet both sell band saws that look identical, and the Jet is more than twice the cost and worth it. This is the same situation. These batteries are first rate, and the headlamp is very well made. I have no idea how I ever lived without one of these. I think I will buy another just so I can have one at home and one at work. I have been using the light all day long every day since I bought it, and it doesn’t even dim. The batteries are in the same league as panasonic or sony, so the headlamp is almost free when you consider it comes with two batteries and a way to charge them. I also bought two more batteries and a charger, but I have never needed them yet. In the past, I have purchased cheap 16550 batteries for a song, and that was what they were worth. Thee are the real deal…
Great headlamp for the price.

Great headlamp for the price. I use a headlamp a lot, the others I have are smaller and use AAA batteries behind the lamp in front. They are lighter and easier to wear under a hat, and one of them zooms, but the zoom requires using two hands which is inconvenient while walking the dogs at night. This Canwelum headlamp is still comfortable even though it’s much larger, but it is harder to fit under a winter hat… or any hat. The brightness and ease of one handed zooming makes up for this, though.
I’ve had to re solder some connections due to poor workmanship. At one point the batteries wouldn’t charge …
Have had the unit for almost a year. Works very well. Is everything I’ve asked from a headlamp. With that said, there are/have been some drawbacks.
It is comfortable to wear and didn’t overheat
I’ve used lesser power headlamps over the years but needed one that put out more light than the average one you would find in a sporting goods store. After looking at different models I chose the Canwelum. I used this light extensively for a two week backcountry hunting trip recently. Product outperformed my expectations and provided more than enough light to perform the tasks I required. It is comfortable to wear and didn’t overheat. The red LED light behind the battery pack was a nice addition. The metal housing does get warm after extended use but that is to be expected. Batteries lasted longer than I expected as well. The only thing I did not like about the light was that during strenuous activity (mainly climbing/descents) the light moved to the left/right a little more than I would want. In my opinion though that was not enough of a distraction to take a star off. If they become available on Amazon again I plan on picking up a few more.
Really really bright.

Super bright! Like really bright! Like wow bright. Dont like that the battery box is so cheesy. Kinda week thin plastic and has a rubber cover that just pops on. I use my headlamps for shorefishing for big game in Hawaii. So the brightness is awesome but have a feeling im going to be digging looking for batteries that fell out one day. The light part is heavy duty. Great focus ability to tighten or loosen the beam. Low setting is still really bright. Wish they would have added a fully adjustable dimmer where you can thin it out to almost nothing for tying hooks and what not. Over all I would say great buy for the price. Still kinda wish I got a fenix though. Mainly for the durability and the full dimmer function. But im happy.
Great price on a bright light.
Nice bright light for a great price. I use it mostly when letting the dog out in the back yard at night and for early morning walks. High beam lights things up for a great distance – I can see what my dog is doing in the grove of trees 50 feet from my back door without moving off the back step. The focus function is great – I can light up the whole back yard or focus it down to a very specific area. I like low beam for walking and the strobe function is good to alert drivers when crossing streets in the dark. This style headlamp is a little bulky and heavy for packing in on camping trips, but it’s a lot brighter than my camping headlamp that runs on three AAA batteries. It appears to be well made. I haven’t had a chance to see how long the batteries will last on a charge, yet.
Very bright headlamp and I am surprised to the long run time of Canwelum 18650 rechargeable batteries.
This is a perfect headlamp for working at tight when you need both your hands free.
